Description

Exodigo is the leading underground mapping solution for non-intrusive discovery. Our platforms combine multi-sensor fusion, 3D imaging, and AI technologies to create complete, accurate underground maps that enable confident decision-making for customers across the built world. We transform the project lifecycle for our customers, who include key community stakeholders in the utilities, transportation and government sectors.

We are experiencing sky-rocketing growth and closed a historically large $96M Series B round in July of 2025.

Job description

Senior Systems Engineer. Build the system. Break it. Understand it. Make it work.

Some engineering problems can be solved within a single discipline. This isn’t one of them.

We build complex physical systems where RF, hardware, sensing, software, algorithms, and mechanics must work together — reliably, in real-world conditions.

We’re looking for a Systems Engineer who can understand the entire system, connect the disciplines, and take technical problems all the way from an ambiguous need to a complete, operational solution. This is not a role focused only on writing requirements, coordinating interfaces, or managing projects. It is a hands-on engineering role for someone who wants to get into the details, build, measure, investigate, and make the system work.

What You’ll Do

  • Own multidisciplinary systems from early definition and architecture through integration, validation, and field performance.
  • Translate operational needs and real-world use cases into measurable system requirements and complete technical solutions.
  • Define system architecture, data flows, and critical interfaces across RF, hardware, sensing, software, algorithms, and mechanics.
  • Understand how the system will actually be operated in the field, including user workflows, environmental constraints, failure modes, and operational risks.
  • Build prototypes and design experiments to answer questions that cannot be resolved on paper.
  • Work hands-on in the lab using measurements and test equipment to characterize system behavior and validate performance.
  • Lead system bring-up, integration, and validation, connecting individual components into a complete end-to-end system.
  • Investigate complex behavior that crosses disciplinary boundaries and drive problems to root cause and resolution.
  • Make system-level decisions and trade-offs when information is incomplete and there is no obvious answer.
  • Lead technical discussions and design reviews with experienced engineers across the organization.
  • Feed insights from testing, integration, and field deployment back into the system design.

Requirements

  • 9+ years of experience in Systems Engineering or a closely related hands-on engineering role.
  • Strong understanding of hardware systems, with meaningful hands-on experience working with RF technologies.
  • Experience owning complex physical systems that combine multiple engineering disciplines.
  • Demonstrated ability to connect individual components and subsystems into a complete end-to-end solution.
  • Strong understanding of system architecture, data flows, interfaces, integration, and verification/validation.
  • Hands-on experience with system debugging, measurements, experiments, prototypes, and laboratory equipment.
  • Experience translating technical designs into systems that can be operated reliably in real-world or field conditions.
  • A track record of personally driving multidisciplinary technical problems from ambiguous behavior to structured investigation, root cause, and resolution.
  • The ability to identify system risks, evaluate trade-offs, and make sound technical decisions with incomplete information.
  • The technical maturity and communication skills to lead discussions, challenge assumptions, and earn the trust of experienced engineering teams.
  • A B.Sc. in Electrical Engineering, Systems Engineering, Physics, or a related engineering discipline.

You’ll Stand Out If You Also Have

  • Experience with RF sampling, timing, synchronization, localization, navigation, or GNSS.
  • Experience with radar, RF communications, electro-optics, autonomous systems, robotics, or other sensor-driven systems.
  • Embedded software or firmware experience.
  • Strong software or algorithms understanding.
  • Experience conducting field trials and debugging deployed systems.
  • Experience in defense, aerospace, or another highly multidisciplinary engineering environment.
  • Experience in a startup or fast-moving R&D environment.

What We Mean by "Senior"

We’re looking for someone with technical depth, ownership, and presence.

Someone who can walk into a room with hardware, software, algorithms, and RF engineers, understand the different perspectives, and help the team reach a sound system-level decision.

Someone who does not stop after selecting the right components, but connects them into a complete solution, closes the gaps, and considers how the system will actually be operated in the field.

Someone who can say:

“I think this is the problem — but let’s measure it.”

You’ll become one of the people the engineering team relies on when every component appears to work individually, but the system as a whole still doesn’t.

Come build something difficult with us.
