Your responsibilities as a Customs Senior Associate / Associate Manager include, but are not limited to the following:
- Act as the Nominee Broker for our Corporate License application and maintenance
- Build and maintain a framework that allows for 100% compliance with ABF and DAFF regulations
- Be a Customs expert, keep up to date with everything customs - staying ahead of new legislation in the region/country
- Help to advise clients on best practices for import, export and new / evolving legislation
- Execute daily customs operations, design, build and document Standard Operating Procedures (SOPs) to shape the new customs team
- Partner with the Commercial team to attend discovery calls, provide sales support and technical customs advice (HS classification, FTA eligibility, Valuation) that helps win new business
- Provide high-level guidance to clients on complex customs topics
- Maintain excellent working relationships with clients by providing first-in-class customer service. Be a trusted trade advisor to clients
- Be a clear communicator, customs is complex enough - let’s simplify it
- Manage our Australia customs P&L
- Help build and optimise Flexport Australia’s customs products and services with technology!
Prerequisites:
- 5+ years of current experience in AU Customs Broking (post-qualification)
- Familiarity with Customs product classification, valuation, free trade agreements, and a master of the local tariff
- Have worked in or helped to supervise a customs brokerage team
- Excellent communication, interpersonal, and organizational skills - Be able to simplify complex problems and communicate complex customs information to internal/external stakeholders
- Next-level logistical/Customs problem-solving skills, finding solutions to complex client problems is a must
- An obsession with client happiness, you succeed when they succeed
