Guild is hiring a Senior Applications Engineer (Workday) to be a critical technical resource within Guild's Enterprise Business Systems team, reporting to the Senior Manager, Business Systems. This role provides expert-level support and advanced configuration across Guild's Workday HCM ecosystem, working collaboratively with the Senior Manager and Workday Architect to deliver escalated support, functional configurations, and integration development. You will serve as a trusted technical partner to business owners and HR stakeholders, contributing your expertise to ensure our Workday environment is functionally sound, optimally configured, and aligned with the team's strategic roadmap.
Responsibilities
Support & Functional Expertise
- Application Support: Support across all Workday modules (HCM, Absence, Time Tracking, Benefits, Payroll, Talent). You will diagnose root causes, resolve configuration conflicts, and provide expert guidance to both end users and internal support teams.
- Proactive Issue Prevention: Identify systemic patterns in support tickets and collaborate with the team to translate them into configuration improvements, documentation enhancements, or training opportunities.
Functional Configuration & Business Enablement
- Configuration Delivery: Design, build, test, and deploy functional configurations across Workday modules in partnership with business owners. You will translate business requirements into technical solutions that align with Workday best practices.
- Business Process Optimization: Evaluate existing workflows and propose configuration enhancements that improve user experience, reduce manual work, and increase data integrity.
- Testing & Quality Assurance: Coordinate UAT for module changes and bi-annual Workday releases, ensuring business stakeholders have the tools and guidance to validate functionality before production deployment.
Advanced Reporting & Analytics
- Reporting Development: Design and maintain complex Workday reports, custom reports, calculated fields, and dashboards that enable data-driven decision-making.
- Self-Service Enablement: Provide training to business users to empower them to access real-time insights.
- Data Integrity Steward: Monitor Workday processes for anomalies, working cross-functionally to resolve data quality issues at their source.
Integration Development & Innovation
- Integration Partnership: Work closely with the Workday Architect to support the design, build, and maintenance of integrations using EIBs, Workday Orchestrate, and Connectors.
- Prism Analytics: Collaborate on the development and maintenance of Prism datasets that enrich Workday with external data sources, enabling advanced analytics and cross-system reporting.
- Orchestrations & Automation: Support the development of intelligent workflows using Workday Orchestrations to automate business processes, reduce manual touchpoints, and improve operational efficiency.
- AI & Enterprise Integration: Contribute to exploration and implementation of cutting-edge integrations between Workday and AI platforms (MCP/AI agents) and enterprise applications, partnering with the Architect to drive innovation in how Guild leverages its people data.
Platform Governance & Compliance
- Configuration Management: Maintain documentation of functional configurations, business process frameworks, and integration specifications in collaboration with the Enterprise Business Systems team. Support change management processes that align with IT control requirements.
- Security & Access Controls: Support the administration of security groups, business process security policies, and domain security to ensure appropriate data access while maintaining segregation of duties.
Team Collaboration & Continuous Improvement
- Cross-Functional Partnership: Work closely with the Senior Manager, Workday Architect, IT, HR, Finance, and business stakeholders to deliver cohesive solutions that meet organizational needs.
- Knowledge Sharing: Contribute to Workday enablement efforts by documenting best practices, facilitating knowledge transfer sessions, and supporting team development. Develop and deliver training content that uplevels Workday knowledge across People Operations and IT teams
Experience & Qualifications
- Experience: 5+ years in Workday functional configuration and administration, with demonstrated expertise across multiple HCM modules (Time, Absence, Benefits, Performance, HCM Core).
- Integration & Development: Familiarity with EIBs, Cloud Connect integrations, Prism datasets, and Orchestrations.
- Reporting Proficiency: Advanced proficiency in Workday reporting, including calculated fields, matrix reports, worksheets, and discovery boards.
- Technical Curiosity: Eager to explore emerging technologies, including AI/MCP integrations and innovative uses of Workday's extensibility platform.
- Collaborative Mindset: Exceptional ability to work as part of a team, translate business requirements into technical solutions, and balance compliance, scalability, and user experience.
- Problem-Solving Orientation: Proven track record of diagnosing complex system issues, identifying root causes, and implementing sustainable solutions.
We are committed to equal pay for equal work and believe in compensation transparency. All salary ranges are standardized nationwide and will not vary by region. This role offers a competitive total compensation package, including a base salary of $120,000 - $145,000 and stock options. Compensation offered will be based on a combination of factors such as experience, competencies, and internal equity.
