About the Role
As a Quality Engineer at Platform Science, you will be a significant contributor to ensuring the quality of our software products. You will independently design, implement, and execute comprehensive test strategies, proactively identifying and preventing defects. Collaborating effectively with agile teams, you will leverage your experience to contribute to process improvements and ensure the delivery of high-quality software experiences to our users.
Essential Responsibilities
- Independently design, develop, and execute comprehensive test plans, test cases, and test scripts for diverse software components, features, and integrated systems.
- Proficiently perform functional, integration, regression, performance, and usability testing.
- Effectively identify, thoroughly document, and accurately track software defects using our issue tracking system (e.g., Jira).
- Collaborate effectively with software development teams to understand software design, providing valuable and constructive feedback to enhance testability and overall quality.
- Analyze test results, efficiently identify the underlying root causes of failures, and work collaboratively with the development team to implement effective solutions.
- Monitor and analyze key quality metrics (e.g., defect density, test coverage) to identify trends and contribute to continuous improvement initiatives.
- Actively contribute to the continuous improvement of our software development and testing processes, suggesting and implementing best practices.
- Stay updated on the latest software testing methodologies, tools, and technologies, applying relevant advancements to our testing strategies.
- Actively participate in agile ceremonies, providing valuable insights and advocating for quality and testability throughout the development process.
- Contribute to the development and maintenance of our CI/CD pipelines, implementing and utilizing quality gates.
- Participate in code reviews, contributing a quality-focused perspective to identify potential issues early in the development cycle.
- Develop, maintain, and enhance automated test scripts and frameworks to improve testing efficiency and expand test coverage.
Education and Experience
- Bachelor's degree in Computer Science, Software Engineering, or a closely related technical field.
- 2-5 years of demonstrable experience as a Software Quality Engineer or in a comparable software testing role within an agile environment.
- A solid understanding of software testing principles, diverse methodologies, and the intricacies of the software development lifecycle (SDLC).
- Proven experience with a variety of testing techniques, including black-box, white-box, and grey-box testing approaches.
- Hands-on experience utilizing industry-standard bug tracking and test management tools (e.g., Jira, TestRail, or equivalent).
- Strong analytical, problem-solving, and debugging skills.
- A keen attention to detail and a commitment to delivering high-quality software products.
- Excellent interpersonal, verbal, and written communication skills, with a proven ability to collaborate effectively within cross-functional teams.
Preferred Qualifications
- Practical experience working within agile development methodologies such as Scrum and Kanban.
- Experience with mobile application testing on both iOS and Android platforms.
- Experience utilizing API testing tools such as Postman, Insomnia, RestAssured, or similar.
- Familiarity with Continuous Integration/Continuous Delivery (CI/CD) pipelines and the implementation of quality gates.
- Relevant software testing certifications (e.g., ISTQB Foundation or higher).
- Proficiency in at least one programming or scripting language for test automation (e.g., Python, Java, JavaScript, or equivalent).
- Experience utilizing performance testing tools such as K6, LoadRunner, or similar.
- Familiarity with observability tools like Datadog.
- Familiarity with Trucking or Transportation & Logistics Industry

This is an exempt role. Our job titles for each posting may span across more than one job level. The estimated base salary for this role is between $92,599 and $160,131. The range displayed on each job posting reflects the minimum and maximum target range for new hire base salaries across all US locations. Compensation packages are based on many factors unique to each candidate, including but not limited to skill set, work experience, relevant trainings and certifications, business needs, market demands and specific geographical location. The base pay range is subject to change and may be modified in the future. This role may also be eligible for bonus, equity, and benefits.
