Who We Are
Tonal is reinventing strength training from the ground up. We combine hardware, software, AI, and computer vision into a single system that adapts to each person who uses it, and we are building the content, community, and clinical applications to make strength training a cornerstone of long-term health.
We have a passionate member base, a product that genuinely changes people's lives, and a team that brings together world-class expertise across fitness, technology, and health. If you want to work on something that is technically ambitious, physically tangible, and meaningful to the people who use it, Tonal is a rare opportunity.
This is a 12 week Internship.
Overview
Retail is one of the most high-leverage growth opportunities at Tonal. Each week, hundreds of people walk into a showroom and demo Tonal, but turning that interest into a sale requires the right tools, the right proof points, and the right experience at exactly the right moment.
As a Product Management Intern focused on Retail Sales and Demo Conversion, you'll own a bounded, high-impact problem: helping retail associates close more high-intent demo traffic by improving the tools they use and the experience customers have on the device itself. You'll run real discovery, drive prioritization, and ship tangible work, all within 3 months.
What You Will Do
Discover and prioritize
Review existing research, retail notes, and product documentation to understand the current sales process and its gaps
Conduct interviews with retail associates to surface the most common close-stage objections and missing proof points
Assess the current state of the Sales Companion Website and Tonal's retail demo mode
Define the highest-leverage opportunities and align stakeholders on a prioritized plan
Build the Sales Companion Website
Drive an MVP of a lightweight companion experience for associates to use on iPads or laptops during or after demos
Ensure the tool helps associates address common objections with clearer pricing, membership framing, transformation stories, feature explainers, install guidance, and outcome proof
Improve the Retail Demo Experience on Tonal
Identify and prioritize targeted improvements to Tonal's demo mode, including things like more realistic stats, better surfacing of Daily Lift, stronger progress proof, and a more personalized, outcome-oriented experience
Write clear product requirements that translate associate and customer needs into actionable engineering work
Manage trade-offs between impact, effort, and time-to-ship
Who You Are
Currently pursuing a degree in business, engineering, design, or a related field
Strong product instincts: you can identify user needs, frame problems clearly, and translate them into actionable solutions
Analytically rigorous and able to back decisions with data
An effective communicator who can synthesize research, align stakeholders, and write crisp product specs
Comfortable with ambiguity and able to make progress without a fully defined playbook
Collaborative across design, engineering, and go-to-market teams
Extra Credit
Prior PM internship or product-adjacent experience (design, strategy, research, etc.)
Familiarity with retail, consumer hardware, or fitness/health products
Experience with user research or usability testing
Exposure to agile or sprint-based development workflows
Experience using AI tools to accelerate research, writing, or product work
